Here are the rules. I know they are boring, but for the sake of all mankind just skim through them, okay? One of the reasons there are so many is because of how different this is from normal RPG's, I want to make sure you understand explicitly what you can, and can't do. Sorry you have to trudge through them all!
RolePlaying
You must have at least five sentences in your role playing paragraph. Come on, it's not that hard. If you are running short, go back, reread, and add in some more description. Remember, this is a medium to advanced RPG, and all role-playing posts will be checked.
We would appreciate if you would use the spell check. No 1 wuntz 2 red dis. They made it for a reason, so for god's sake use it! Wouldn't you rather your posts be nice and neat, than messy and incorrect? Spell checking your posts will also make it more appealing for other members to reply back to your started posts.
Power Playing and God Modeling are a big no. Role Playing is supposed to be fair and fun! If I see any of this, you will be warned and/or banned if the power playing/god modeling continues. I know, sometimes it slips, and if it is not a big one, or the other person agrees to it, I will allow it. This also means no perfect characters.
Graphic content is allowed. Just be sure that if it gets too descriptive, put a warning label (x *title* x) in the title so the younger members or members who simply do not wish to read it can keep their distance.
No killing other writers characters. Only the writer can kill their character. The only time that writers can kill another character is under certain circumstances, like when the writer for a certain character has been inactive for a very long time. Note: Just because a writer has been inactive forever doesn't necessarily mean you should kill a character.
You should not have any modern objects in this RPG. This ruins the whole purpose of the plot, and nothing spoils a persons muse more than finding out the person they are RPing with has a television or telephone in their boat. This will be punished harshly. No modern words or talking either, like "Yo, wassup my homie," okay?
Don't use what the other writer has revealed to you in their post but that they didn't say out loud to your character against them. An example:
1st Writer: "I wouldn't never do anything to hurt you," murmured Anne, but she turned her thoughts on the sharp knife hidden in the folds of her dress.
2nd Writer: Caleb looked at Anne for a moment, and then said in a deep voice, "Then why do you have a knife hidden in your dress?"
Do you see? The 2nd character should have not known that. This is extremely annoying for the 1st writer, and you can be sure they won't RP with the 2nd anytime soon. This, and any know-it-all posts (where your character always does just the right thing), will be punished.
And last but not least, write in third person, past tense.
Your Signature
It can't be so big that it stretches the page.
When finding pictures for your character to put in your signature, here are the rules: No perfect makeup, no modern conveniences in background, and no modern clothes. I know it is very hard to find decent pictures like that, but you just have to look everywhere. I don't care if the picture is from a movie.
Example of bad picture: http://galleries.lycos.co.uk/d/14692-3/keira-knightley.jpg
Why is this a bad picture? Modern conveniences, land, people, makeup and overall appearance.
Example of good picture: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s95/annaelainenolte/keira_knightley.jpg
Why is this a good picture? Though her makeup and appearance border on the perfect side, her clothes and weapon fit in perfectly. This was taken from a movie, and yes, I am using the picture for one of my characters.
For a signature, you can have a nice banner made for you by a volunteer or you can just put a picture of them in your siggy. You will want their full name, and maybe an interesting quote that says something about their personality. Some things to google to get good quotes: Deep quotes, witty quotes, or sarcastic quotes.
Extra Rules
The most important rule is this: Obey the rules.
Your username should be your character's full name.
One character per account, and you can create multiple accounts, just make sure you can keep all of them active.
No harassing, flaming, or spamming.
Try and stay active, getting on at least three times a week. It isn't very fun if you have to wait four days for the person you are RPing with to reply.
Advertise only in the advertising board.
Wait to be accepted before RPing.
Also, when making a character, no gay or bisexual orientations allowed. I am not prejudicied, but in this world you would probably be considered unnatural and killed. And when making your characters personality, keep in mind that in this world you barely survive by the skin of your teeth. You are hardened. If you're soft or sensitive, you die.
Rules subject to change.
